Pauline Mayers is a chameleon of a dancer, Rambert trained, experientially working to reclaim
history confront the harms of colonialism with the Audience/audience: I remember the power of her
work What if I Told You at the Leeds Playhouse where Pauline uses her own reception of the way
racialisation, gender, power means in the moment of reception: as her audience we were in
communion with her story and the atmosphere was electric.
Pauline is based in Leeds and they’re so lucky to have such an artist with so much knowledge, wisdom,
experience and sensitivity. On 9/16ths she’s a performer and Movement Director. The work she’s always
done prepares her so well to work with this fantastically motivated group of women.
Pauline helps the audience to redirect the eye into: what if I told you about all the things you
didn’t know: how black bodies were used in medicine, in culture, in society….
