Nottingham City has retrofitted buses and taxis to reduce emissions and new public transport purchases are environmentally cleaner. But we also need to look at manufacturing and production of air pollutants in Nottingham and to include how and where decisions on the siting of toxic manufacturing processes are made and have been made historically. It’s no good blaming the poorest people for the fact that there are manufacturing processes on their doorstep and then suggest all their problems are to do with their personal choices.
Our notion of health needs to be social, cultural, humanitarian and then it will really be regenerative…
